We don’t know what’s happening in your gardens but it’s very exciting to see some (rather early!) bulbs shooting out their little green tips from the soil here at Flourish.
The promise of spring is just around the corner and for us that means a cornucopia of Tulips; from the classic single variety to delicate frilly and bearded numbers, double heads and the show-stopping blousy peony types. Fields and tunnels will be carpeted with Narcissi in all shapes and sizes across all the shades of yellow and creams with little yolk-like centres, and in our tunnels Italian Ranunculi unfold their rose-like buds, fanning out layers and layers of tissue paper-esque petals that a pastry chef would be proud of.
Come and join us down on the farm on Saturday 20 April for a Spring Flower Workshop with our great friend Beth. Beth is a familiar face on the farm, she worked in our flower team for a few seasons and now runs the gorgeous @Flosinbloom down the road from us in Hitchin.
You’ll be greeted with welcome teas, coffees and a homemade sweet treat plus a cheeky glass of fizz to toast the arrival of spring. We will then head into the tunnels, where you’ll be shown how to harvest your own flowers (we will also be picking so if you have a bad back or any ailments we can do this part for you!). It’s a wonderful sight to see and connects us with where flowers actually come from (not the supermarket!). Beth will then lead everyone back to the Sundial barn for a Spring Bouquet Tying Workshop using your freshly cut flowers and foraged gems from the farm.
The art of being able to create a handtied bouquet is such a gift… come summer you’ll be able to cut from your own gardens and produce some stunning creations all with a touch of Flourish whimsical beauty. We will have a rainbow of ribbons and sustainable wrapping ideas on offer.
You’ll leave with a gorgeous bouquet and a new skill under your belt… Probably a few new friends too!
